Retirement and Preparing for the Trip:
By early June, both Evan and Sara had retired, although Sara was still helping and guiding the new owner of the real estate magazine. The house sale was unbelievably quick, with a closing on June 10, and we moved in with our BFF’s Linda & Michael for a while.
Time for a Road Trip: Sara and Evan enjoy a good road trip. It’s usually Evan at the wheel (until his eyes start drooping dangerously) while Sara navigates and manages the entertainment. We visited friends in Asheville NC and then Nashville TN and up to New Jersey to visit family.
Then back to Florida for the month of July. We spent our days finding good homes for more of our stuff and planning for the big trip. In August we left Florida to spend time in New Jersey with our children and grandchildren. More trips to REI to assure that we have just the right gear for hiking the Camino in Spain, and many long walks, even with full backpacks, to train and get our bodies ready for he trail.
